Born in Hollywood and raised in Los Angeles, JP is a first-generation American, brought up by a hardworking single mother who immigrated from Peru. Spanish was his first language, and he is fluent in both Spanish and English, allowing him to connect naturally with a broad and diverse range of clients and communities. These early influences shaped his strong work ethic, resilience, and deep respect for community — values that underpin the way he works today. 

Before transitioning into real estate, JP built a successful career spanning more than two decades in the entertainment industry, working across acting, executive producing, film financing, and production. As founder of Evolving Pictures Entertainment, he led complex projects, structured deals, negotiated with diverse stakeholders, and collaborated with award-winning writers, directors, and major studios. This background sharpened his commercial instincts, negotiation skills, and ability to manage high-stakes transactions. 

JP has long been a respected figure in the Malibu and greater Los Angeles community through his leadership in ocean-based therapy, adaptive surfing and nonprofit work. For over 20 years, he has helped build, scale, and introduce surf therapy programs locally and internationally, supporting individuals with special needs as well as those navigating grief, mental health challenges, addiction recovery, rehabilitation, and life transitions. His work has extended to underserved and marginalized communities, including youth and families in lower-income areas of Los Angeles, veterans, formerly incarcerated individuals, and others seeking reconnection, stability, and purpose through the ocean. He is the founder of former nonprofit Mighty Under Dogs, and the founder of Pelican Ocean Therapy, a year-round, community-centered surf therapy program based in Malibu, California.
